Peer-to-Peer Networking

A peer-to-peer network is a computer term that refers to a network in which each computer stands alone.  Computers are connected primarily in order to share internet connections, printers and other peripherals.  It's the type of configuration used for most home/home office networks.

If you want to have a home network, you'll need to do the following:

  • Network Setup

    • Install Ethernet cards if necessary

    • Install wiring or consider wireless

    • Install hubs

    • Setup Windows Networking Services

  • Printer - decide whether the printer should be:

    • Attached to a networked computer

    • Attached to a network interface device.  Some print servers are stand-alone and do not require to be connected to a computer

  • Shared internet connection - which type of internet connection do you want?

    • Dial-up Connection

    • DSL Connection

    • Cable Connection

For both home and home/office networking, Carst Consulting is dedicated to installing and setting up your shared resources as efficiently and unobtrusively as possible.
