Email has become a part of everyday life.  While email enables you to stay in touch with friends and colleagues no matter where you may be, constant spam can make turning on your email a major hassle. What should you do to prevent spam from clogging up your inbox?  How can you stay in touch with your friends and colleagues when you're traveling and away from your home computer?  Do you need more than one email address?

Preventing spam:

Spam has become a major headache for ISPs (Internet Service Providers) and users.  Attachments and Internet shortcuts included in email may also contain viruses, trojan horses, ad-ware, and spam forwarding.  All of these can cause major problems to your computer.

We can help you with spam filters, virus protection, ad-ware cleanup and/or services that can help you eliminate most of the spam.  And we can install firewalls that will give you a barrier from damaging trojan horses and viruses.

We can even help with hoaxes.  Often, emails from reliable sources warn of a virus or trojan horse that has infiltrated your system, but in actuality is not a real threat.  Whenever you get an email that suggests you delete files or run new programs to eliminate spam, ad-ware, first check  www.snopes.com, www.urbanlegend.about.com, or give us a call.

Staying in Touch:

Staying in touch with your email is simple because your email  -- whether it's on AOL, MSN, Earthlink, Yahoo, or your own web site --  can generally be retrieved from anyplace in the world.  Most email servers can be accessed by web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, or Opera.  If you need assistance in using these browsers to connect to your email, Carst Consulting Services can help you with a short tutorial specific to your email system.

Do you need more than one email address?

Do you need more than one email address?  It depends.  If you share your computer with another person who uses a different email system than the one you use, you may want to have a second or third address.  You may also want separate addresses for different purposes.

We can help you obtain an address that is on a different system from others in your office or home.  Or we can help you get additional mailboxes on your current system.
